Kambree Aaron Wilbanks
By Krisha
This
is a story about my little girl....Kambree Aaron Wilbanks.
She was born June 27,1999.
I had
an awful pregnancy. I vomited the whole nine months. When
i finally went into labor, my doctor said I was full blown
pre-eclamptic. My blood pressure sky rocketed and I was given
an injection of magnesium sulfate. Kambree was in a great
deal of stress, but it was too late to do a ceasarean. She
was finally born and I didn't even get to see her. I didn't
get to have her in my room for 48 hours because I had high
fever from the untreated preeclampsia.
We got
to go home a couple of days later. Kambree was the most precious
little bitty thing....she weghed 6pds. 7oz. and 19 in. long.
I had to take Kambree back for her newborn check up. She was
admitted to the hospital because she had very bad jaundice.
I ran
into one of Kambree's nursery nurses, and she told me "I called
and checked on your daughter around midnight because I didn't
think she would make it." Kambree had head trauma and was
a very sick baby. the two day hospital stay turned into Kambree
having to be airlifted to the New Mexico Children's Hospital
in Albuquerque....
We were
there a month extensive tests were ran and finally Kambree
was diagnosed with Diabetes Insipidus. then the most shocking
news of all was your baby will have limited vision. I asked....Will
she have to wear glasses.....???? But her septo optic dysplasia
was in both eyes.....Kambree a little light perception and
maybe shapes and shadows in her left eye....
Kambree
is 2 yrs. old is very beautiful . She has a great physical
therapist and mobility specialist.........They have been a
tremendous blessing and help with Kambree...She loves music, swinging,
and listening to the wind chimes....and her favorite mobility
toy is her push pal....Kambree does hippo therapy and loves
her horse Apache...She has extremely good balance and puts
all of her trust in us......
Kambree
is on two hormone replacements DDAVP and Synthroid....she
is still on the growth chart and we praise God she stays on
it.....She is just like every other two year old.....but Kambree
sees with her heart and her hands.....
We have
the most wonderful family...Kambree has a lot of little cousins.....that
treat her no different than any other two year old.....they
play
with her and include her in everything they do....she also
has a wonderful Dad who I could not have made it without....and
an ornery but precious little brother who is 9 months, his
name is Keaton......Her
grandparents think she hung the moon....
Well in
closing....I have been sad, hurt, mad,and confused......but
I am very blessed.....God gave Aaron and I, Kambree for a
reason...and I will raise her the best I know how.....I love
her more than life itself....she is my little angel....I thank
God every day for her.....and pray one day she will see..........But
until that day...we will take every step to make her feel
normal and very special.....
