Dear FOCUS - UK Members Please find enclosed FOCUS' first newsletter. It was quite a challenge to devise a newsletter that would be appropriate for all the countries that have branches of FOCUS. A huge thank you to all those who have worked so hard in producing an excellent first issue. Another big Thank you to Legal and General for a large donation that has enabled the printing of this newsletter. We hope that you enjoy the newsletter - and if there is anything you would like to comment on, or if you would like to submit an article for the next issue, please contact us on, www.focusfamilies.org, or if you are not on the internet, please do so via myself (contact details above). This year has been a very strong one for FOCUS-UK, I have had lots of knew referrals, with many more hospitals giving out our contact details so that we have been able to support families from the point of diagnosis. We aim to go from strength to strength over the next year. As some of you may be aware, we have decided not to have a conference this year. Last year's conference was a real success, however both Jill and I found it exhausting organising such an event and have decided to have a year off! There will definitely one next year though - I promise!!! Over this summer, I will be inputting all our subscription forms onto a computerised system and updating our family contact list. I must stress that there are many families who have not filled in a subscription form and because of this I am having to sift through addresses that I have jotted down at the point of referral. It also means that these families cannot be added to our family contact list because I need your permission to do so. I have enclosed a copy of the subscription form, if you do not think you have filled one out, please do, as I will only be inputting data from the subscription forms onto the database mailing list. I will really miss not seeing you all again this summer, catching up on the children's wonderful achievements and not meeting some of our new referrals. But I will be thinking of you all, please don't hesitate to contact me if you need anything, and if you are ever in the area, please look me up! Take care, and have a wonderful summer Alison Baker |
